In Paris, at the end of the sales, a noticeable change in the most occupied hours of metro services and an absence of neighborhood crowds are both signs of summer.
If you are looking for crowds, they can be located on nearly all beaches in Europe, including the Paris beaches, in August. This year Paris offers three locations: the Voie Georges-Pompidou from 20 juillet to 4 septembre, the Louvre to Pont de Sully from 20 July to 4 September, and the Bassin de la Villette from 20 July to 21 August. Since 2002, the Mairie has provided safe opportunities for residents who remain in Paris during the summer to experience beach pleasures. Paris Plage is a well-covered topic, so this photo essay simply reveals moments of focused attention on beach-goers in Nice, France and Calella Costa Brava, Spain.
Always something to do at the beach – stretching before a swim…
Taking out the disturbing bits of sand from between one’s toes, or perhaps disassembling one’s pacifier.
Simply speaking – poetry… love on the rocks.
Then for the ambitious, hopefully, catching many fish at one time!
In solitude, negative ions to aid clarity, reflecting or making decisions.
In company, being boys of summer.
And of course where there is beach, there is water. To be afloat in a boat is a soothing opportunity. It seems the middle boy is practicing his energetic strength or pushing the limits with his cohorts.
Example of a smaller boat for a true captain of his own vessel.
And as usual there is the larger watercraft for the experienced masters of the sail, or apparently the motor.
Happy August!
