Rome!! 10.29 – 11.1, 2014

One of the walls of the Roman Colosseum

We are in ROME!! Here’s the Roman Colosseum!

The Flavian Amphitheatre and the blue sky and clouds peeping thru the arches...

AKA – the Flavian Amphitheatre, the largest amphitheatre of the Roman Empire. It is considered one of the greatest works of Roman architecture and engineering. It is STILL the largest amphitheatre in the world!!
I like the blue sky and clouds peeping through the arches…

A mother and daughter smiling in front of Roman architecture.

It’s us!! 10.29.14

The Arch of Constantine (Arco di Costantino), a 25m high monument

Just outside the Coliseum is the Arch of Constantine (Arco di Costantino), a 25 meter high monument built in AD315 to mark the victory of Constantine over Maxentius (from Wiki)…

A view of the Colosseum from a nearby hill. Trees on both sides cover the area around the Colosseum.

After the colosseum, we decided to take a walk up a nearby hill. Looking back, this is one of the views we were rewarded with…

Roman architecture and a building with an arch.

Another view…

The top of a gate with a cross adorning it. Blue skies and clouds are in the background

Simple, beautiful lines with God’s sky…

A church where talls trees can be seen from an arch entryway

There is a church at the top of this hill we climbed. The hill overlooks the forum, but check these trees out – they are everywhere in Rome….

The burnt red outer wall of a building. A statue stands at the center of the wall.

Beauty at the top of the hill…

The top of a gateway with a mosaic. A blue sky and nature can be seen around it.

This type of site is all around…

Large, tall trees and the forum and other ruins behind it.

Now we start to see the forum and other ruins through the trees..
