I Am From – A Poem by John Camacho
I AM FROM
I am from Passion.
The land of stone temples and fuming volcanoes.
I come from Kings of corn and sun.
Green, white and red draped across my face,
in the shadow of two lovers sharing a border.
I come from lines on a staff filled with notes,
From stories in song filled with regret.
I came up with the summer scents of Night Blooming Jasmine, Gardenia and Orange,
In a land where the stars shine above and below.
With the winds of Santa Ana and the dance in my feet,
I twirled my heart into being.
A child of God, no more, no less, imbued with my line.
The glint of quality in my sight;
Diamonds that don’t glitter and rubies that bleed.
