MACROSPHERE – A Poem by Sylvia Syms

An African American girl posing by a mirror. Her lips are pursed as she wears a blue dress with a fake pearl necklace and a pink hat. In her hand is a thing of lipstick and a purse

MACROSPHERE

Somehow she got
Into my closet and
Found my best dress
The white wool cape
With foxtails
And my highest heels
She asked if a
A neighbor girl could
Join her
In this
Newly discovered
World
I said yes
And
Got down on my knees
