On Tuesdays and Saturdays, a special experience is available in Lucerne, Switzerland. On the banks of Lake Lucerne, both sides – rain or shine(!) – have a beautiful farmers market each week. The Saturday market is significantly larger than Tuesdays. While there are many delights to discover, the late summer FLOWERS are absolutely amazing!
The colors and textures are achingly beautiful. And there are dozens and dozens of sunflowers! Even on a rainy day, these bright yellow, large, circular-centered flowers on hearty stocks send waves of cheer!
The colors of these petals almost begs the question – real or engineered?
The temptation to purchase armloads full of these beauties is real. For locals, an entire home can be filled for an understated price!
Beautiful color combinations abound! And look at those delicate, multilayered petals! I’m reminded that flowers bring beauty, hope and cheer. And even when considering the cost, bringing these wonderful bits of nature indoors will surely offer dividends in pleasure that will be shared by all!
Delicate snapdragons, one of my favorite flowers! And then hydrangeas…
The fruit is beautiful too!
And the produce; it’s all making me hungry!
Thankfully, tomato-cream soup, a freshly baked croissant and French wine nourish and delight : ) Thank you, Manor Department Store!
Travel Tip!! In any city, find a nice department store and double-check if they have a rooftop or upper story cafe – it’s worked for me many times! They often have views and/or outdoor patio dining! From the rooftop patio of a department store, the lovely, stormy skies of Lucerne loom dramatically!
