Rome is the capital of Italy and of the Lazio region. With 2.9 million residents in 1,285 km2 (496.1 sq mi), it is also the country’s largest and most populated comune and the fourth-most populous city in the European Union by population within city limits.
Piazza del Puopolo, the large urban square that in Italian literally means “People’s Square”. Historically, it derives from the poplars (populus in Latin, pioppo in Italian). The church of Santa Maria del Popolo rests in the northeast corner of the piazza.
Rome is a sprawling, cosmopolitan city with nearly 3,000 years of globally influential art, architecture and culture on display. Ancient ruins such as the Forum and the Colosseum evoke the power of the former Roman Empire. Vatican City, headquarters of the Roman Catholic Church, has St. Peter’s Basilica and the Vatican Museums, which house masterpieces such as Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel frescoes.
This photo series is my impression of a sense of sweetness and tranquility that I felt amongst this rich labyrinth of Roman history. The fiume Tevere (river Tiber) is the forum for sensual strolls and cycling as well as strenuous exercise practices. It leads to all parts, including the Iconic Trevi Fountain.
I nearly omitted the silence of the Trevi fountain amongst the throngs of visitors from this image!

Museo Pietro Canonica, Rome, tucked into the greenery of the Villa Borghese, is dedicated to the sculptures of early 20th century artist Pietro Canonica.
Villa Borghese is a landscape garden in the naturalistic English manner in Rome, containing a number of buildings, museums (Galleria Borghese) and attractions. It is the third largest public park in Rome (80 hectares, or 148 acres) after the ones of the Villa Doria Pamphili and Villa Ada. The gardens were remade in the early nineteenth century. The abundance of greenery is home to many sculptures, ponds and fountains, walking and cycling paths and resting patches of green, as well as plenty of benches in wood and stone.
Unable to locate whether or not this is Cardinal Giordano, or another?
The Park is pristine and provides a veritable sanctuary from the bustle of the city.
There are designated areas for allowing doggies to run and play as well.
The smallest shadow. Quiet, special moments with Nonno can be allocated even within the dominance of the bustling city.
