Spending a week in the New England area of the U.S., specifically Ipswich and the North Shore, on the coast about an hour north of Boston, is a wonderful idea for the fall! With natural beauty at every turn, loads of fresh air & fresh sea food, a deep rooted sense of American history and friendly local people, the area seems to be filled with welcome! Another boon is that a side trip to Cambridge or Boston is totally possibly with just an hour’s drive south of Ipswich. There was ideal weather this second week in October: blue skies and somehow even bluer sea! I’m thankful that a week’s worth of meetings and planning sessions for Culture Honey Touring brought me to this wonderful area! Here is a sampling of what is to be enjoyed should you venture this far north in the U.S.!
Beautiful seas and sand awaited nearby our lodging in an Ipswich cottage on the Great Neck Peninsula! The white boats seen here will only be out another few weeks before they are brought in for the winter.
We took the drive about an hour south of Ipswich to Cambridge. One of the most impressive places to visit is Harvard University, one of the most prestigious universities in the United States. It was so exciting to be on the campus!
The fall colors were beginning to show everywhere we went, but the green, leafy trees with dappled sunlight mixed in made for such an appealing setting.
Discovering the locally hand-crafted mead at the Ipswich Farmers Market, we stopped by the shop called the “1634 Meadery” for further tasting before deciding on a bottle of the “Citrus Breeze” to share back in California with our Thanksgiving dinner : ) The Meadmaker, Dan Clapp, was very knowledgeable on the history of mead making, and happy to share with us! For more information, visit their website, 1634Meadery.com
We got to see exactly where the mead was made – I recommend stopping in for this unique experience, and picking up a gift to take home as well!
Fall is making its entrance all around : )
Even the beautiful homes on the Great Neck Peninsula are joining in!
Graceful living in the Massachusetts North Shore.
Enjoy the stillness of the coming dusk…
Sunset colors bring a peaceful closure to the day.
The green-blue sea of the New England coast.
The grounds and view of the historic Sleeper-McCann House in Gloucester, MA.
What a beautiful day in Gloucester, MA!
Be sure and visit Muzio Designs while you are in Essex; there are many treasures for the home waiting for you there! I bought some candles and locally made chocolates called “Sweet Sloops” by Harbor Sweets as well! Check out the wonderful store’s website at MuzioDesigns.com
In addition to beautiful original paintings and linens for the home, there was quite a selection of honey in pretty bottles as well!
Until our paths cross again, as the sun went down I said goodbye to the beauty and special serenity of the North Shore!
