Spending a week in the New England area of the U.S., specifically Ipswich and the North Shore, on the coast about an hour north of Boston, is a wonderful idea for the fall! With natural beauty at every turn, loads of fresh air & fresh sea food, a deep rooted sense of American history and friendly local people, the area seems to be filled with welcome! Another boon is that a side trip to Cambridge or Boston is totally possibly with just an hour’s drive south of Ipswich. There was ideal weather this second week in October: blue skies and somehow even bluer sea! I’m thankful that a week’s worth of meetings and planning sessions for Culture Honey Touring brought me to this wonderful area! Here is a sampling of what is to be enjoyed should you venture this far north in the U.S.!

Beautiful seas and sand awaited nearby our lodging in an Ipswich cottage on the Great Neck Peninsula! The white boats seen here will only be out another few weeks before they are brought in for the winter.

We took the drive about an hour south of Ipswich to Cambridge. One of the most impressive places to visit is Harvard University, one of the most prestigious universities in the United States. It was so exciting to be on the campus!

Discovering the locally hand-crafted mead at the Ipswich Farmers Market, we stopped by the shop called the “1634 Meadery” for further tasting before deciding on a bottle of the “Citrus Breeze” to share back in California with our Thanksgiving dinner : ) The Meadmaker, Dan Clapp, was very knowledgeable on the history of mead making, and happy to share with us!
