Pine Mountain Club Christmas in the Village
Pine Mountain Club, the self-described “nearby-faraway place”, is a quaint mountain village about an hour-and-a-half north of Los Angeles, CA. A small town of roughly 2,000 households, it is one of the five “mountain communities” in the area, one of which is Fraizer Park. Pine Mountain Club itself abuts the Los Padres National Forest and is surrounded by mountain peaks, including Mt. Pinos. This mountain is loved by hikers and star-gazers alike, since the area is known as having one of the darkest skies in California.
Also, according to Wikipedia, “Mount Pinos, or Iwihinmu in the Chumashan language, was considered by the Chumash people to be the center of the world or Liyikshup. The point where everything is in balance. The summit is the highest in the area and near the center of the traditional lands of the Chumash.”

Pine Mountain Club is also known for its community festivals, including the Lilac Festival, Run to the Pines Car Show and Wine in the Pines. But on this brisk, winter morning in December, Christmastime held center-stage and there was no lack of cheer among the families and visitors to this small mountain village!

The festivities kicked off with a local holiday parade!

The parade featured local service and forestry vehicles of every shape and size, one with very special guest Smokey the Bear on board!

Even the local quilters were part of the festivities!

At the end of the parade, the spectators joined in to follow the route to the special program and village that was set up for all ages to enjoy!
